Terms

Plain language, because the money parts matter more than the legalese. Using simp.bid means you accept these.

What a bid actually buys

When you bid, you are paying simp.bid for a ranked listing on a creator’s board. Your position is the total you have spent on that board. Bid more than the person above you and you pass them; bid again later and your total goes up. The minimum bid is $5.

You are buying a place on a leaderboard. You are not buying goods, access, a subscription, or anything from the creator themselves, and a bid does not create any obligation on the creator to acknowledge you, contact you, or do anything at all.

The 50% creator share

We pay creators 50% of net revenue — that is,50% of what reaches us after our payment processor takes its fee, not 50% of what you paid. Processing costs a percentage plus a fixed amount per transaction, so the two figures differ, and they differ most on small bids.

This share is a discretionary promotional reward that we offer to creators listed on the site. It is not money we hold on a creator’s behalf, we are not acting as anyone’s agent or escrow, and a balance shown on a board is an offer to pay rather than a debt owed. We may change the rate for future bids; we won’t change it retroactively for bids already settled.

Claiming a board

Anyone can add any creator, so a board may exist before its subject knows about it, and it accrues a balance either way. To receive anything you must claim the board and prove you control the account it names — normally by posting a code we give you.

Balances left unclaimed for 12 months from the last bid may be forfeited. We will make a reasonable effort to reach a creator before that happens.

Don’t want a board about you? Ask us to remove it and we will, whether or not you claim it first.

Payouts, holds and clawbacks

Earnings are held for 30 days after each payment before they become withdrawable. That window exists because card payments can be disputed long after the fact, and money that has already left cannot be recovered from a card network.

Payouts run monthly. On the 1st we commit every balance that has cleared its hold, and send it. The minimum withdrawal is $50; anything under that rolls into the next run. We pay by PayPal or Wise, and tax paperwork (a W-9 in the US, a W-8BEN elsewhere) has to be on file first — payouts to US persons over $600 in a year are reported.

We hold back 10% of each payout for 90 days as a rolling reserve. Card disputes can land months after a payment, and this is what absorbs them instead of your balance going into the red. It isn’t a fee — every cent is released back to you on schedule and goes out in the next run. After the first 90 days, releases roughly cancel out withholdings, so the amount held stays flat and your monthly payment returns to full size. Your reserve is shown on your board alongside everything else.

If a bid is refunded or charged back after we have already paid out its share, it comes out of your reserve first. Anything larger than the reserve becomes a negative balance that future earnings pay down. We don’t ask creators to send money back; we simply hold the next earnings against it.

Refunds — the 30-day window

You can ask for a refund within 30 days of your bid. Inside that window your money is still with us, so we can simply give it back.

After 30 days we can’t. That is the same window we hold creator earnings for — once it closes, your bid is included in the next monthly payout run and the creator’s share has left our account. Refunding then would mean paying the same money twice, out of our own pocket, so we don’t.

Two things are always refundable, whenever you tell us: a payment you didn’t authorise, and a duplicate or failed charge on our side. Those aren’t bids.

Talk to us before opening a dispute with your bank. Inside the window you’ll get the same outcome faster; outside it, a dispute doesn’t recover money the creator has already been paid, and it costs them their share.

A reversed bid comes off the board, off the creator’s total, and out of the public activity feed.

Boards, names and takedowns

Don’t add someone who isn’t a public creator, and don’t use the public message on a bid to harass anybody. Messages and display names are public. We remove boards and messages at our discretion, and we remove any board whose subject asks us to.

Attempting to claim a board you don’t control is fraud, and we treat it that way.

The boring part

simp.bid is provided as-is, without warranty. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you have spent with us in the previous twelve months. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

We may update these terms. Material changes to how money works will be announced on the site before they take effect.
